"... as I walk along these shores, I am the history within..."

The above is the very first line of the Runrig song called Proterra. I love the song, it reminds me of Hetalia 'countries' more than it should. Especially when it comes to my OC of Scotland as the Scottish official past time is often said to be 'nostalgia', and Scotland is known for it's romantic songs, landscape, etc thanks to Sir Walter Scott and others ~__~

Anyway... meeeh... I feel so lazy for not working on the kilt and plaid scarf more, but as much as I love tartan, I absolutely cannot stand coloring it in (nor could I find my Royal Stewart Clan tartan swatch either to use on this picture)

Note: 'A hundred thousand welcomes' is basically one of the greetings Scottish people give, but it's usually spoken in Scots Gaelic i.e. 'Ceud mile fáilte'.

Obligatory disclaimer stuff: Hetalia belongs to Himaruya (of course), but this Scotland design belongs to me~

I should probably shut up by now since I'm spamming your comments but--you listen to Runrig? I love them! And I feel like their songs are pretty applicable to Hetalia, such as this one, and particularly "In Scandinavia" and "From the North" for Norway and Scotland. I'm actually making a mini comic after hearing those songs. :P

Honestly, I'll stop now. xD

Haha, it's all right. I don't mind your comments :)

Also, I DO listen to Runrig, but I'll shamefully admit that I didn't really know about them until last year when I started researching a lot on Scotland and came across one of Runrig's songs.

I love 'From The North' and 'In Scandinavia'! Actually, I laughed when I heard 'In Scandinavia' and had to send the link to the song to my friend who cosplays as Norway and also ships Nor/Scot XD

Ooooh, you're making a mini comic to those songs? Well, I'd love to see them whenever you're finished and if you post them up on DA :)

I'm glad, personally, I love them since I never get any and it gives me a reason to converse on dA. :P

I'll (even more) shamefully admit that I didn't learn about Runrig until I found a link to them on one of humon's deviations. That's pretty much what made me wonder why there would be a Scottish band singing about Scandinavia and vikings and subsequently learning the extensive history and ultimately my liking to Nor/Scot.

I just need to stop being lazy and finish coloring them, then I can scan and upload 'em...though truth be told there isn't much of a point or any historical accuracy whatsoever to them. xD

Ooooh, Humon's deviations are awesome! I don't think I've seen the one where she mentions Runrig though... hmm.... anyway, I do know that Denmark is a huge fan of Runrig, as is Germany and Canada. Whenever I think about it in terms of Hetalia characters, I get this funny image of Denmark wearing a Runrig t-shirt while pestering Scotland for the new Runrig album (plus autographs from the band members) *laughs*

And as for your mini comics? I think it's fine even if there's no historical accuracy behind them. It's based on a song, that's good enough! Besides, anything makes more sense than some of the crack!pairings that Hetalia fangirls come up with.

That's weird because I pictured the exact same idea, no joke. xD On a related note by chance I found out Denmark is a fan of the English pop band Take That, second to the UK. Now I sort of want to see what's going on with music trends--they're so odd. But I get the feeling Denmark likes the British Isles in general, a bit, at least. x3

Yeah, at least it'll be more accurate than a lot I've seen. Really, sometimes crack pairings make me laugh. But honestly, I can't ship, say, Greece and Japan outside of context without a legit reason, like if the Grecian government proposed to combine the two or something really odd like that. xD

Giripan is one pairing I can't get my head around. Other than the fact they both like cats and have some business-links, I can't see any other connection between them. Recently (like yesterday) Himaruya said he pictures Scotland as liking cats; does that mean he's automatically ship-able with Japan because Japan likes cats too? @__@ Oh dear lord, I wish I hadn't thought of that now. My brain is kind of breaking thinking about a Scot/Japan pairing right now.

I'm going to think of Denmark being dorky about Runrig instead :D It's funny that he likes Take That as well lol! I actually don't mind Take That much, although most of their songs are really cheesy love songs, but they do have a few good songs as well. I just prefer Runrig (if I had to choose between Runrig and Take That), because Runrig sings about things other than love. They also sing in Scots Gaelic too, which is an added bonus in my opinion :)

Giripan...casual acquaintances or even friends, perhaps, but a pair...? And oh my gosh, Scotland and Japan? No, just no. xD

I agree. The contrast just struck me as odd and really humorous. I really only like one or two of Take That's songs, pretty much just 'Progress' and 'SOS' and a few recent ones, since I don't really like their old boy band style. I definitely like Runrig and their type of music a lot more.

I just don't like how Japan is, apparently, ship-able with everyone in the eyes of the fangirls. I've seen Japan shipped with some nations that he has absolutely no connections with at all. I don't mind crack!pairings, but Japan certainly gets around for someone who is meant to be a prude *__*

Oooh, and I agree. Take That's newer stuff is much better than their original boy-band songs from the past. I'll admit, I do like cheesy love songs, but even I have my limits XD I actually love that song they sang for the Star Dust movie. I think it's called "We Could Rule The World"? That's one of my Holy Roman Empire/Chibitalia songs :3
